In some day of our first year uni life we attended to our first lecture of ppd which is standard for personal progress development.Even without knowing we have almost finished two years and we have came to the end of the ppd session.

                                          

During this two years of time period in our ppd journey we could learn a lot. Very first thing that we learnt here was how to do team work.In the whole lecture series of ppd we learnt that how much of strength that we can get by working as a team 

Here we learnt that working effectively in a team environment is crucial for many small businesses. It requires skills in effective communication, collaboration, time management, and business acumen. On a team, members share the ownership of meeting the defined objective. By establishing a responsibility matrix, you define who is responsible, accountable, consulted, and informed for each task you complete. Working with a diverse group of people, sometimes in different locations, presents many challenges. Learning to work together effectively in a team environment enables everyone involved to achieve their personal and professional goals.

There were so many activities in ppd that bought us lot of fun.Activities such as barter puzzle, the expert game,out bounding training,many work shops on personal development like"Art of living"& "latest software trends"; all those things help us a lot to make our life a better one.

                                OUT BOUND TRAINING

On 2017 December 09th and 10th as one of the PPD session all the first and second years of Software Engineering students went to Trincomale Navy camp. Approximately 70 students and 3 lecturers went for this wonderful experience.

It was the most wonderful PPD session for all of our batch mates. Though, some of us experienced this outbound training in the Leadership training program conducted by government for the students those who selected for universities, we enjoyed these two days with our university gang more than that 3 weeks. Because this was not like other lectures there were so many outdoor activities organized by navy officers there. The most wonderful thing for me is most of those activities were at the beach side.

First we went there they have organized a delicious lunch for us. Then one of the navy officer told us rules and regulations in the camp. After that we were grouped into four groups, each group had 19 members including both male and female. Then we enjoyed with leadership activities with our groups. In there we could identify our weaknesses as individuals and as teams and could improve our soft skills like time management, decision making, leadership skills etc. At the same time we enjoyed  a lot more than that from those games.

 

After those activities there was a variety show with a fire camp to show up our skills like singing, dancing and acting.  

We ended the second day after having the dinner at beach. It was the first time I got that experience..😍 In the second day we were grouped into four group but not the same group at the previous day. We had to find the destination going through the jungle using compose and the map. In there we had to make quick decisions because they trained us to do that by acting like victims in the jungle. It is also a funny memory to add our unforgettable journey. 😆 

 Finally we could see the Sri Lanka Navy Museum-Trincomalee. The museum displays several exhibits to illustrate the visitors about the past 30 years war. In there we went our past 30 years in mind. So, I would like to thank Ms.Sarasi Senadeera for organizing such a wonderful trip and our batch mates. Without them it would not be a such an unforgettable memory.

                                                     

   LATEST SOFTWARE ENGINEERING                                       TRENDS

There are lots of IT related degrees in Sri Lanka; to shine or get good job in these huge crowd we have to know what are the new trends going on the software industry & what the industry expecting from the Degree holders. This session conducted by  Hsenid mobiles one of the best mobile service solutions in Sri Lanka.

There are two persons come from the company one HR manager of Hsenid mobiles she talked about their company and  their structure and services. They are offer internships for our seniors. she told about what are expecting from candidate. Those information help us when we prepare for our next year interns.

                         

The next person is a Software Engineer from the industry He talk about what are the new software trends in the industry and he gave some advises from his experiences.

Advantages of using open source

The benefits of open source is tremendous and has gained huge popularity in the field of IT in recent years. This is mainly because the advantages of open-source software is that it's free to use – its greatest advantage. As it is developed by a non-profit community, it has some disadvantages as well.Open-source software is free to use, distribute, and modify. It has lower costs, and in most cases this is only a fraction of the cost of their proprietary counterparts.

Open-source software is more secured as the code is accessible to everyone. Anyone can fix bugs as they are found, and users do not have to wait for the next release. The fact that is continuously analyzed by a large community produces secure and stable code.Open source is not dependent on the company or author that originally created it. Even if the company fails, the code continues to exist and be developed by its users. Also, it uses open standards accessible to everyone; thus, it does not have the problem of incompatible formats that exist in proprietary software.Lastly, the companies using open-source software do not have to think about complex licensing models and do not need anti-piracy measures like product activation or serial number

Social computing within an organization can empower and motivate employees and, as a consequence, create benefit for the business.

so these are important facts that we learnt on that day we must be really thankful to the madam sarasi and Hsenid mobile to conducting us as a helpful lecture. 

                               TABLE ETHICS

"Good manners will open the door that the best education cannot" this proves that our manners have more value in our Society. As a software Engineering student i should know about those things when i go to the industry.For this session madam made lot of plans  but finally  we plan to go Sri Lanka Institute Of Tourism and Hotel Management (SITHM) School  because of the time & money issues. we divide our batch as two teams & i was in the second team our team plan to go on 15th of November. 

Morning 9:00 am we all are gather at university Entrance. At 10:00 am we start our journey through university bus. 

We arrive  SITHM at 11:00 am . First we had a session about Dressing & behavioral approaches. He told us how to wish someone in different situations,space between two persons when they talk & speaking manners in group. The next part he talked about life morals and values negative thoughts, don't care attitude always bad for our life, when we post something in social medias we should remind that the this world watching us. The next session about how to dress & accessories. When the session going on they serve water & juice The perfectly serve those things in between those session we observe that one too.

                     

The next session about table ethics. He sit in the table and we gathered as a round, He demonstrate how to sit, how many spoon,knifes & folks in the table and how to use that tools, order of meals and our Srilankan type of meals,the signs spoons and our friends ask some doubts too. 

                         

The next session is our lunch  at SITHM dinning hall😋. The waiters( the students of SITHM) and supervisors (lectures) group of four people in the table.

                         

They prepared special menu for us, our table waiter introduce her self and tell about our menu.

First they serve the starter. as a girl in the table my friends start passing  the food from me. while we are eating  supervisors guide us how  to eat some different foods and  give some advises, after the starter we are ready to have our meal " Sea food & cream sauce ,Braised rice and green salad. we enjoy our meal. At last they serve our dessert " Fruit trifle".

                                    

At last we thank for who spend their valuable time for this session and they wish for studies and career too. I thought serving foods is a work but after this session i understood it's an art. we are the people  who from different part of  Sri Lanka with different social status but session  help us to equalize our manners. We are very thankful to our madam Sarasi Senadheera & SITHM staffs for this wonderful session!👏

                 1.Eat outdoors: whether you plan to full-fledged picnic ,eat your take-out on a                           park bench,or just enjoy your morning coffee in your back (or on your fire                               escape city dwellers) take a break and app  your meal outside.

                 2.Make a list of all the outdoor activities you want to do this year: For camping to                       whitewater rafting ,snowboarding, jet skiing ..... the sky's limit. write a list of all                       the thins you want to do outsides this year, whether-  organized by season.                           Then start this weekend with the first appropriate activity on your list.

              

                3.Join sports league: Nothing keeps you committed to spending time outdoors                          than joining league where they count on your participation week after week.                          can't find a team you like? Try convincing your human resources department to                      start an office softball game, or organize one yourself with friends.

                

               4.Work outside: speaking of work ,are you feeling blocked there? it could be the                       early signs of spring fever, but i have a guaranteed trick to break yourself of                           those distracted feelings and be more "in the moment"at work so you can get                         more done.

               5.Plant flowers: In most places the ground barely had a chance to freeze this                           year,so you can get jump on planting flowers  in your yard .if you're still                                   concerned about cold overnight temps, plant them in planters that you can bring                   indoors at night.

               6.Visit someplace close by,but unusual: Chances are wherever you live , you have                   some outdoor tourist attraction that the locals never take time to visit.skip work                       for the day or rearrange your schedule and take a mid- day trip. you'll return                           rested,rejuvenated and ready to face anything that comes your way.

               7.Invite neighbors over for a fire and a night of stargazing: Being the night with a                       nice dinner of locally -grown foods, and, as the sun sets , if  local ordinances                         permit it ,light a fire and begin roasting marshmallows.There's something about                     an outdoor fire that says "instant vacation".Take time to appreciate the scent,                        concentrated warth, and the stars above your head.

MY DREAM TRIP

                                                              FRANCE!!!!

                  

AS a result of my hardworking , i will be the most performed person in my company and because of that boss gives me an opportunity to go on a trip as i won with my husband and two children and most important part is with an unlimited budget, i'm sure i will be the france at that time period.

                          Because I had that dream from my childhood. Although I never being there, by watching cartoons and movies I thought that if I was born there how much lucky I’m like that. The people who act that kids’ movies act like as they are having luxurious life by living in one of the loveliest countries on Earth.🏰🚘

                            

There are so many beautiful places to visit there. Most probably I’ll firstly go to Paris. Paris is widely acknowledged as a world-beating destination, but often overlooked beyond the capital is an incredible array of beautiful coastlines, rolling hills, quaint villages and innovative design Some of the other places to visit there are Eiffle Tower The Eiffel Tower is a wrought iron lattice tower on the Champ de Mars in Paris, France. It will be the most valuable and unbelievable gift in my life. And other important part is I can enjoy whole 30 days with my family. If this trip only to me, it would not be that much happy. I’ll travel with most expensive tickets, stay luxurious hotels🏨 and eat lots🍨🍕🍮 with them. Meantime I’ll shopping😊 and buy things as my own from that money... Actually, I cannot imagine that opportunity, I’ll be a crazy😝 girl when I got that news.

I was blessed to be a student of university of Kelaniya .And i'm so proud to say that university of Kelaniya is the First Green Univesity in Sri Lanka .

It is provide us high quality of education and to conduct high impact research which will contributr significantly to enhancement of existing knowledge in various fields of Humanities,Medicine ,Science ,Social Science , Commerce and Management ,Computing &Technology and to the development of the country. 

                                    pleasant environment in our university speedup our energy on our academics.Wordsworth, a staunch lover of nature, believed that nature is a storehouse of joy and pleasure. 

It is a overflowing fountain of divine beauty.  It is a friend, a guide and a nurse to man.

.A ruined body or a broken mind find a lot of comfort and consolation in the lap of nature.  It provides a man with fresh energy and a new vigor .So we have given all  those things in our university.

                 

University life is one of the best few years in our life where you will learn a lot of things about the society.University of kelaniya has taught me not just acadamics, but so many things  about people, society and i have gained so much and learnt so much from this beautiful and wonderful place.University of kelaniya has become my second mother.

                                                       Its my second home!!!!!!!!!
